CheckPublicIP.com ("we", "us") operates the website at checkpublicip.com. This policy explains what information is processed when you use the site.

Information we process

When you visit the site, your browser sends standard technical information with every request: your IP address, user-agent string (browser and operating system), and request headers. We use this information to display it back to you — that is the purpose of the service. We do not write your IP address to any database or long-term log of our own, and we do not build visitor profiles. Our platform provider (Cloudflare) still processes requests to run the site, as described below.

Who receives data, and what they get

Using this site involves the following third parties. Each is governed by its own privacy policy:

  • Cloudflare (hosting/CDN): processes every request to serve the site and derives your approximate location (city, region, country, timezone, ISP) from your IP. It may retain limited operational logs. We have disabled per-request invocation logging on our Worker.
  • Cloudflare Web Analytics: a privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics script (static.cloudflareinsights.com) that measures aggregate page views and performance. It does not use cookies or fingerprinting and does not track you across sites.
  • Google AdSense (advertising): serves the ads that fund the site and may use cookies/identifiers to show and measure ads. In the EEA, UK, and Switzerland a consent message is shown first (see "Advertising and consent").
  • unpkg.com (CDN): serves the Leaflet mapping library; receives your IP as part of the file request.
  • CARTO (map tiles): the homepage shows a small map preview of your approximate location, so your browser requests map-tile images directly from CARTO's tile servers as soon as the homepage loads — CARTO receives your IP as part of that request. The underlying map data is from OpenStreetMap (credited on the map), but your browser does not connect to OpenStreetMap for these tiles.
  • ipify (api.ipify.org / api6.ipify.org): the IPv4/IPv6 checks call ipify from your browser to detect your addresses.
  • Google STUN server (stun.l.google.com): the WebRTC leak test contacts it from your browser to discover candidate IPs.
  • Cloudflare DNS-over-HTTPS (cloudflare-dns.com): the reverse DNS tool queries it from your browser.
  • ipwho.is and ip.guide (geolocation databases): when you use the IP lookup or ASN lookup, the address you enter is sent to our server, which looks it up via these providers and caches the result. We do not record which visitor looked up which address.

The VPN test uses only the network details Cloudflare already derived from your own connection; your IP is not placed in any URL or sent to a lookup provider for that test. Do not enter information you consider sensitive into any lookup field.

Advertising and consent

Ads are served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites. For users in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland we show a Google-certified consent message (CMP) before non-essential ad storage is used, so you can allow or manage these choices. You can also opt out of personalized advertising in Google's Ads Settings.

Cookies

The site itself does not set cookies, and Cloudflare Web Analytics is cookieless. Google AdSense may set cookies as described above, subject to your consent where required.

Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data. Since we do not store personal data ourselves, such requests typically concern our service providers (Cloudflare, Google). For questions, contact us at contact@checkpublicip.com.

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the latest revision.
